I was born and raised in Studio City, California. I am blessed with an amazing family, of whom I'm very proud. I have one older brother, Brad. He and his wife, Elise, met at Tulane University Medical School and now both practice medicine in northern California. Their beautiful sons, Nicholas and Ethan, we born in September 2005 & 2007, and the. My mother, Marsha, is originally from Riverside CA. She practices psychotherapy in Studio City and Pasadena CA. She has a degree in Anthropology from UCLA, and M.Ed. and M.F.C.C. degrees from Phillips Graduate Institute. My father, Andy, moved to Long Beach CA from Chicago IL when he was a kid. He practices cosmetic & general dentistry in Beverly Hills CA. He earned a pre-med degree from UCLA, then completed dental school at USC. My parents met while attending UCLA. They celebrated their 35th anniversary in Egypt & S. Africa!
My decendance is the quintessential Americana: our melting pot. My father's heritage is Jewish. His progenetors emmigrated to the U.S. from Poland and Germany during the 1890s. Over 5 generations, his family has laid roots in Atlanta GA, Chattanooga TN, Memphis TN, New Orleans LA, Forrest City AR, Chicago IL, and Los Angeles CA. My mother's heritage is Christian. Her progenetors are from Scotland and from England, and began arriving in "the colonies" in the 1680, a year before William Penn founded Pennsylvania. I'm decended from U.S. Patriot and Quaker Betsy Ross who sewed our first American Flag. Alternatively, I'm also decended from British General John Burgoyne, who fought and lost against American Revolutionary General Horatio Gates at the battle of Saratoga. My maternal grandfather is 1/8th Choctaw (I'm 1/32nd), and is also related to Cynthia Ann Parker, mother of Quanah Parker, last Chief of the Commanches. My Quaker ancestors were the only sector of white-American society that maintained peaceful coexistence with the native americans (this is evidenced by the fact that Philadelphia was the only fort without walls). In 325 years, her family has laid roots in most states from New Jersey to Pennsylvania to Texas to California. In this generation, amongst my many cousins four are half-Caucasian/half-African-American. ...I say again, quintessential Americana. :-)
